I was recently asked to preach the final message at a men’s retreat with 200 men from across South Africa. As I sought the Lord, I felt Him leading me to remind them of the “elementary teachings” about eternal judgment and the resurrection of the dead, and then to give them a vision for eternity that is way bigger than themselves and anything that this world has to offer.
I highlighted the large number of Scriptures and unfulfilled prophecies speaking about and pointing to Jesus’ 2nd coming. As the early church kept these eternal promises in sight and reminded each other of them, they turned the world upside down with their lives in the name of Jesus after his 1st coming. This eternal mindset will dramatically shift the way we live our lives.
I also shared that we are the generation that must be preparing the way for the Lord’s 2nd coming by carrying a similar message to John the Baptist – “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” and “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”
7 men surrendered their lives to Christ in response to the message and 6 men responded by being baptized in water. The session then ended with 200 men crying out and declaring some of these eternal truths through the song “He Who Is To Come”.
