About Our Mission

Pete, Sumari, and Arielle – serving in South Africa since 2018

Hello! We are Pete, Sumari, and Arielle Witt, missionaries serving in South Africa.

In 2018, we sensed God’s clear leading to move from San Diego, California to South Africa to serve as missionaries, investing our lives in discipleship, church leadership, and raising up believers who know Jesus deeply and live on mission.

South Africa is a nation of extraordinary beauty, resilience, and diversity. At the same time, it carries deep wounds from decades of injustice and brokenness that continue to affect communities today. We felt called not simply to observe these realities, but to step into them with hope—believing that the gospel of Jesus transforms lives, families, and nations.

During our first four years in Cape Town, we had the privilege of helping lead a discipleship school and serving on the eldership team of a local church. In 2022, God invited us into a new season, leading our family to relocate to Johannesburg to help birth a new discipleship work.

Teaching Scripture and forming disciples through intentional, relational discipleship.

In February 2023, we launched ROOTED—a discipleship program focused on forming passionately devoted followers of Jesus who are grounded in Scripture, led by the Holy Spirit, and equipped to make disciples wherever God sends them. At the heart of ROOTED is a simple conviction: everything we do must flow from intimacy with God. We prioritize time in His Word, learning to listen to His voice, and responding in obedience as He leads and empowers us.

Alongside discipleship, God has connected us with an incredible children’s village that cares for orphans and vulnerable children, many of whom have been rescued from deeply traumatic situations. Our students spend regular time serving there—building relationships, offering practical care, and faithfully expressing the love of Jesus through consistent presence.

Students learning to live out the love of Jesus through consistent presence and practical care.

We are also part of a global partnership of churches committed to seeing the church grow in maturity and faithfulness as we prepare for Jesus’ return. Through this partnership, we regularly travel across South Africa and internationally to equip leaders and congregations. Students in our program come from multiple nations and are sent back to their home countries to make disciples, strengthen churches, and carry the light of Christ. Over the past two years, our students have also been actively involved in four church plants.

Praying over and sending leaders as churches are strengthened and planted.

All of this work is only possible because of faithful partners—individuals, families, churches, ministries, and businesses—who feel led to stand with us through prayer and financial support. Your partnership directly enables discipleship, leadership development, and the care of vulnerable children.

If you would like to partner with us financially in the gospel and the work God is doing here, we would be honored to walk this journey with you.
